Save Civic Hall Public Meeting 3pm Sunday 10 November 2013

Posted on 5 November 2013

At Ballarat Library, 3pm Sunday 10 November.

Regina Lane, from Friends of St Brigid’s will be guest speaker at a public meeting organised by Save Civic Hall.

The small community of Crossley, near Port Fairy, banded together to prevent their church and hall, built and maintained by Irish famine survivors, from being sold. The battle went all the way to Rome and was supported by human rights lawyer Frank Brennan, and indigenous elders Archie Roach and the late Ruby Hunter.

Regina, who is now publishing a book about the St Brigid’s story, will share their experiences.

This is also an opportunity to learn what the newly formed Save Civic Hall is planning, and how you can assist in preventing Council from demolishing this valuable community asset.
